Only in Dreams

only

This track was originally called ” Weezer Riddim, ” based off the fact that I borrowed the main bassline from Weezer ” Only in Dreams. ” You can listen to that here, it will remind you of high school. It’s a straight instrumental track, with the exception of a surprise snippet from our own Jams F. I had to take the word ” weezer ” out of the title because dim mak and RCRDLBL graciously released it for free.

Jackson And His Computer Band

I first discovered Jackson while browsing around Amoeba Records, drunk with power from my store credit, I swooped up “Smash”  around 2005. It was amazing sounding and I had no idea what to do with it.  I suppose if I did,  I could have told my licensing friends to put these tunes in a commercial like this one.  Many of the Ed Banger dudes, sebastian especially, have commented on how Jackson was the pioneer for their sound back in the good old days of the early to mid 2000’s.  I’ve included a free download for his track ” Apreggio, ” sorry its a 192k file, it was uploaded before the 320’s or higher movement was in full swing.  Oh and also,  Jackson will be spinning at cinespace tonight. MOTOR – LIVE @ Cinespace

motor

Last night the Dim Mak artist Motor performed their own brand of industrial tinged tencho music.  The recording is a lil glitchy at the beginning because someone kept bumping into the soundboard, but its over with soon, and fits the vibe of their set anyway.

45 mins. 192 mp3.

JR EWING artwork

J.R. Ewing (1998-2006) is one of my favorite bands of all time, hardcore or not. Hailing from Oslo Norway they were compared to fellow Scandinavians Refused, even being called the “new Refused” after the split up of the pivotal swedish hardcore band. If you love the sound of Steve Albini, whether it’s for Shellac or producing In Utero, you’re gonna love J.R. Ewing and wish they never broke up in 2006.

“Everyone Else” is the first track on Calling In Dead (Coalition Records), and “Repition Is Failure” is the first track on Ride Paranoia (GSL). Their last album Maelstrom was released by Dim Mak in 2005. I can’t stress how much I love this band and how great both albums are. – dan
