FYF seems like a far off musical L.A. dream, but its really just around the corner and will come around sooner than you think. All I’m praying for is that it won’t be as disastrously hot as it is now, because I don’t know how cute it’ll be seeing girls reapply their makeup over their already melted off caked on masterpieces. Then again I’m kind of excited to see that. Oh and the pit stains, I love my men with pit stains. Its a fun time to be had by all, between it being the strangest mixture of people you’ll see and the pervs scoping out and around for jail bait, all to a backdrop of good music, it’s quite the scene to be missed. So don’t miss it!

Here’s a peek into the latest video from Aloe Blacc’s new single “I Need A Dollar,” featuring music from Leon Michels and the Truth & Soul family, out now on Stones Throw Records. This is a quick video teaser the team put together from some out takes and additional footage from the shoot a few weeks back in Harlem. We just happened to have caught a small blizzard in New York during the trip, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the fresh snow provided some fantastic scenery that complemented the overall aesthetic of the song quite nicely.

Aloe Blacc’s single appears as the theme song on the new HBO show “How To Make It In America,” starring Luis Guzman and Kid Cudi.

Directed by Kahlil Joseph with support from DP Matthew J. Lloyd and Danny Song, produced by What Matters Most and Funk Factory Films.

don’t pick up the telephone

I heard a lot of hype regarding Lady Gaga’s Telephone video with Beyoncé for a while now but never bothered to go look up the video myself. Well, last night I had the pleasure of being shown this video for the first time, and quite frankly I’m still not sure if I’ve recovered. I had what could best be described as something in between a seizure and whiplash.
I’ll say this much, Lady Gaga has mastered visual rape to perfection. I don’t really even have any concrete criticism on the video itself because I don’t even think I have the brain power to know where the hell to begin. I’m really seeing the correlation between women’s prisons and dance floors though, obviously uncanny.
Quote of the night, “Beyoncé, you’re better than that.”
Oh and last thought, bastardized Quentin Tarantino mash-up?
