I was actually considering seeing the movie before I saw the trailer. By far the most schizophrenic cast I’ve ever seen. It would only be worth seeing it for Marion Cotillard and Penélope Cruz. What a shock that it was made by the same people who made Chicago. I think I take more offense to this movie than the people that take out their pitchforks for the Twilight movies.

I’ll take a helping of Marion and Penélope any day though.

And I hear this movie they’ve been working on is pretty close to being done..

“Back in April, Lil Wayne attempted to block the release of a documentary about him called “The Carter.” The film, which features candid interviews with the rapper and followed him on the road while promoting The Carter III, contains at least one scene of Weezy mixing and sipping syrup. A judge shot down the attempt, which allowed the production company to seek distribution.” – MTV

FIELD NOTES FROM DIMENSION X PREVIEW from Carson Mell

Carson Mell has been making some of my favorite animated shorts of the past ten years. I met him years ago and about a year later picked up first issue of Wholphin, a DVD magazine that McSweeney’s puts out, his film The Writer, stole the show and I’ve been hooked ever since. His work is like a colorized Charles Burns, book but funnier.

Start with Saguaro, an excerpt from his novel about Bobby Bird, a country music star whose rose and fell from stardom and wants to tell you all about it. From there check out The Devil in Denim and Chonto, they are short films based on the book. From there the rest is up to you and there’s lots to see and hear.

Alexi Wasser is basically taking over, just by having a very rad writing driven blog (apparently she’s hosting @ cinespace in a few weeks?).  This is her bringing out the wild side of LA’s young Nate Harrington (who is basically like a minimal electronic Harold Bloom in the making, if that makes sense).
