We chanced into a meeting today with Carol Ai, one half of the duo behind Ai for Ai, who’s out from LA for Coterie tradeshow next week. Upcoming (and available to buyers now at the show) will be their third season, a collection of foxy pieces made with inspiration from LA artist Owen Schmit (If you missed last season’s output w Mercedes Helnwein, please get acquainted). Commercial release for the season is October 14th, and will be available at Satine and other select spots in LA.

Though this may be possibly one of the girliest posts known to man, there’s something to be said about extreme nail art. These women need to be given an ode to, they forgo hygiene, wiping their own behinds (and possibly causing internal bleeding), essentially any intimacy, and also the capability of holding any object within reach. Maybe they’re our modern day monks, maybe.

New York City friends and fellow derels The Wellington Papers just shot a video from their latest single “Berlin,” based loosely upon their first hand cab experiences throughout their world travels. Shot in Manhattan and featuring cameos from downtown delinquents Team Facelift, The Arab Parrot and The Heart Brake Crew, The Wellington Papers’ tales of excessive wilding out and debauchery pair perfectly against the gritty visual imagery and intermittent nudity from the betty’s in this video.

The band takes cues from the sound of 60s garage rockers and intertwines the music with their own modern day stories of drunken tom foolery for a feel good tune sure to provide the theme song to your own weekend hijinks.
